What to Bring.....

First and foremost, bring your sense of adventure, you're going to need it!  Every day brings something new.  Always be prepared for changing weather..  "Yes" it could even snow here in July!!

Clothing:

Layered clothing is always best.  A silk base layer to start, then a midweight Capilene/Polyester layer.  On top of that a Polartec fleece and when it's really cold a fluffy down jacket for your final layer.  If it's raining or snowing heavily, you'll also want a waterproof shell or down Parka.  Body heat escapes from your head so you'll want a toasty hat and warm gloves.  If you are going to be outside in the cold for an extended period, hand and foot warmer packets are a handy, lightweight item to take along.  For hiking in the summer you'll want to wear quick drying nylon or polyester pants (when jeans get wet, they stay wet!) and then add a fleece layer and Gortex outer layer for rain or snow.  To keep snow out of your boots you can also add gaiters around the bottom of your pants.  These are great for snow shoeing!      Sturdy hiking boots or in the winter insulated snow boots are a must along with a toasty pair of Smartwool socks.    At the top of the Beartooth Highway in the summer, you will still find snow and chilly temperatures.  It could be 80 degrees at "Blue Sky" and 30 degrees at 11,000 ft!!

If you plan on hiking in the mountains water should be filtered or treated.  There are many small water filters to choose from or you can use tablets.

FOOD:

All of our cabins include the makings of a hearty breakfast!  You will find...fresh eggs, juices, gourmet coffees and teas, pancake mixes, cereals, oatmeal, & more! (Due to various preferences, we do not stock milk or bread)   Condiments, salt & pepper, sugar, cooking oils, butter pats, etc. & all necessary utensils, pots, pans, plates, a 4-burner stove with oven, microwave, toaster, large refrigerator & a BBQ with charcoal & lighter, are furnished with the cabins.  All you need is food & beverages for lunch & dinner, snack food and energy bars or breakfast bars, trail mix, etc. for hiking. You can purchase groceries in either Red Lodge, 19 miles from "Blue Sky" or in Absarokee on highway #78, also 19 miles from "Blue Sky".

Our water at "Blue Sky" is well water & is pure mountain water from an aquifer 260 ft. down!  Fresh and clean tasting.  No need for bottled water here!

Luxurious linens and plenty of fluffy towels are furnished as well as extra pillows, blankets, a toasty comforter and soaps & toiletries.

We also recommend binoculars, there are many animals to see around "Blue Sky" and of course a camera.
